The Belper Community Choir was created 6 years and very recently was taken over by new leaders. We believe in looking after one another, offering encouragement, and creating a sense of community through music.
The choir is led by our Musical Director, Emma. She grew up in a musical family, with three generations involved in the Salvation Army Church. Emma has been singing since the age of seven and now has over 35 years of singing experience. She also plays the piano and flute and has performed in several choirs. Emma studied music at both secondary school and sixth form and is now the Musical Director of 2 choirs and a male ensemble Aries Voices.Â
Singing has become a joyful habit, and the choir simply keep wanting more. What started with very simple songs has grown into singing more complex pieces in three-part harmony.
Emma brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the choir, but her main focus will always be the powerful connection between music and wellbeing, and how vital both are for us all.
Below, you can meet some of our the choir and enjoy their answers to a couple of fun questions…
